I'm excited for what Tabata is doing at JP Games, and you can really feel his absence in Forspoken, but his status as a miracle worker who saved a forsaken project was largely manufactured by Square Enix's marketing trying to cast Tabata as the next Naoki Yoshida, swooping in to save a troubled game. We know from a credible pre-release leak that Tabata's pitch won out because he promised to deliver a game in a four-year time span instead of a six-year one, though based on how incomplete the game was at launch I'm skeptical that they were actually capable of doing that. Tabata's team joining the project in 2012 more or less marked the beginning of development and it wasn't until the end of 2013 that Nomura was pulled to begin pre-pro on 7 Remake and production on KH3. Pretty much everyone credited in the early Versus trailers can be found in QA, engine development, or special thanks credits for those two games - it was all hands on deck to make Crystal Tools work, and Versus was the lowest priority. In defense of Kitase and Nomura's team, 15's pre-pro hell had more to do with corporate prioritizing 13 and 14 over Versus. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
